Ellie de Buhr-Artist
Ellie has played around with various mediums and styles of art, but she has found a love of painting and drawing animals as well as creating pottery.
Ellie de Buhr is a painter, ceramicist, and art teacher from Lisle, Illinois. She currently resides in Peoria, Illinois where she is finishing her degree in art education from Bradley University.
Her 2D work focuses on animals in a variety of capacities. In the past 4 years she has developed 3 series including animals in them. Her first series Out of Stock focuses on how processed food affects animals and the environment around them. It is playful and uses irony to get the idea across. In her newer series Absurd Animals she focuses on creating an scenario that does not make sense for the world that we currently live in. These animals reside in a world of their own where these scenes would make sense. The last series she has been working on is My People, she takes the people that are closest to her and transforms them into dogs, highlighting their personality through the choice of dog and the objects/environment that surrounds them.
Ellie has a strong passion for the arts and wants to be able to share that with young minds with her degree in art education. Her hope is to become a high school art teacher where she will be able to teach a vast amount of artistic skills and mediums.
